Low-cost eukaryotic system (methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris) for the large-scale expression of recombinant proteins. The lysis of yeast cells is accomplished either by ultrasound treatment or mechanical methods. In case of soluble recombinant protein expression, the culture's supernatant is concentrated/dialysed by use of tangential flow filtration systems. The subsequent isolation of the recombinant proteins is achieved through chromatographic analysis.
The only available yeast for the expression of recombinant proteins is the methylotrophic Pichia pastoris.
